Had a busy day friday. The twins picked up their pottery from class. We rode downtown with the top down singing along with all the country songs...another generation of music lovers. We went swimming for most of the afternoon.Everyone took the evening off...Ann and family had a quiet night at home...Gene and I went downtown to hear the drummers and other music and to watch all the people. Asheville is a sight to see anytime especially in the summer! Must be the tourists...lolol
Saturday morning Ann helped me (did all the hard work) and we worked in my yard. The patio is really shaping up... can not get the Fl. ... out in the yard ..out of this old woman...thanks, Beb.
Gene worked for awhile, rode his bike for a short time before the storms and then we headed west for a VW ride with the top down car.
We went to Cherokee and to Bryson City for BBQue. We had a wonderful time listening to the Eagles all the way there and home..avoiding the raindrops and storm clouds was quite a feat.
Storms last night again all around us. Today broke bright and sunny. Gene has his ironing duties, Ann and family are at church and I am avoiding my work to get accomplished...I am so very good at that!
Have a picnic planned for lunch with Ann and girls and a honey-do list a mile long...good thing I get so much help!

Thursday VBS end
6-26-08
Yesterday the girls had a great time at VBS at Biltmore and spent the afternoon resting in preparation for their water night at ACUM church. We went by the church and they were all wet...from Rice Krispy treats to watermelon to soaker water guns to a huge slip and slide...the whole VBS was laughing and having such a wonderful time. I am so very thankful for the open arms welcome that has been afforded to my four girls from this church...this is the most beautiful place on earth and the perfect place to raise these wonderful girls...just take a look at the picture below... it was taken at the Fletcher end of the year party for baseball...what a great bunch of girls!
Gene and I traveled to Waynesville to pick up some FreeCycle Iris that a very generous lady had given me. That makes one cat and some flowers that I have received from FreeCycle... it is such a great idea.
Going to ACUM church commencement tonight. They have had a Flamingo Good time for sure!
Ann was on Channel 3 noon news today talking about the Red Cross Blood Drive. She donates blood every chance she can because of the blood donors that were of such a big help when the twins were born. I even (I am electronically tech challenged) got it recorded.

Yesterday the girls had two sessions of VBS. They are enjoying each one. The morning VBS at Biltmore is proving to be very interesting for the mission work for the twins. Yesterday they helped clean up a local school yard by pulling weeds. We swam in the afternoon. The pool is very busy this time of year. They attend the VBS at their own church in the evening. Ann reported a flamingo fun time. Both VBS will be over thursday.
Gene and I worked on our tile project.
Today we have the same VBS plans.

Sad news this morning. Gene told me that George Carlin had died... Carlin was one of our favorite comedians...a true genius with words. He will be missed...we had seen him in concert a couple of times and we each time amazed at his skills.
Took the VW to the church last night with a boogie board attached to the top for VBS kickoff.
Biltmore Baptist had a wonderful VW bus with surfboard on top in front of their church to advertise for VBS and we wanted to do the same.... it was a funny albeit silly comparison of the David/Goliath story except that both churches have the same mission...to teach the Bible. Ann reported 10 more in attendance tonight for VBS.
The girls went to VBS at Biltmore this morning. They had a great time. The twins went on a local mission trip to a local rescue mission... a wonderful opportunity for then to minister.
Thunder all afternoon with no rain...we really could use some.
Talked with my sister a couple of times today. She is planning on coming up for a visit on 7-3 with her kids. Looking forward to seeing them.. it will be her first visit in 2008.

Weekend Ramblings
6-22-08
Gene had a great ride yesterday for the charity CMN. Only one raindrop on him he reported. They were in Maggie when the Blanton funeral procession went by.... God Bless You Trooper Blanton..Godspeed on Your Journey.
Ann and girls had their VBS kickoff last night. They had a good turnout and are looking forward to a good week. The flamingos were a success and a good time was had by all. We stopped by church to see them play after a visit to Brevard for the Cardinal Car Show and of course, our favorite hot dogs.
Today we shopped for new shirts for Gene for work... took a drive in the Jeep...unable to avoid the raindrops..went on a wild goose chase for a certain cookie cutter for VBS. We always make our wanderings fun.
Home tonight for a shrimp on the grill cookout. Love the summertime!

Weeks End
6-20-08
Another Week Over. The girls published their posts. Heading toward the end of this month too fast for sure!
Tim called on their way home from week at Disney World. They said that they had a great time and have promised pictures. They sounded so happy...The Magic Kingdom is just that for sure!
This has been.. as recorded in the girls post a Wild and Crazy Week.. for sure. Speaking of that... Steve Martin has been sighted in Brevard as he and family have a home in a nearby town.... that should spice up one of our most favorite towns for sure.
This week has been a sad week also...as we all are reminded of the dedication required of our law enforcement officers. The first Cherokee officer ever on the NC Trooper force was shot and killed this week in the line of duty. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his wife. The supreme sacrifice and what avail...keeping us safe from criminals that run drugs thru our area.... hope NOW some judge and criminal courts will put that lawbreaker UNDER the jail....Prayers also for his little baby... may he grow up proud of his Dad.
HoHo plans to run a charity ride tomorrow for his company in Sylvia...ride safe our friend!

This week Sam went to ball camp. While She was at camp Tori and I went to the YMCA and swam. When we swam Tori and I used our snorkels and our flippers. The hard part was keeping the above the water.Granny Bear did some exersicing classes.Tori and I took turns picking Sam up from camp.On Monday Mom's car had no gas, so Ho ho stood outside with a fire truck and a police car bloking traffic for a hour.Just because her car was out of gas! That was our very strange week.Jenna

and Ho Ho is calling Tripple A to pick up the car, when the police and fire trucks come bye blocking the road just
cause mom ran out of gas. Well bye!
Hi my name is Sam. This week has been at ball camp, from nine o'clock to twelve o'clock.then we go home and eat.Maybe

Can't get the HoHo and girls pic downloaded.. will keep trying. Twins swam in the morning yesterday. They went into the sauna and steamroom also (they are not really legal yet)...for a few minutes... we went out to lunch and then rested for evening activities.. Ann and twins had J camp at church... and HoHo, Sam and I had All-Star game. Sam played very well... got a second base hit and a pop out that drove a run in... they lost but got 9 runs. This Fletcher league is run with FUN being the "only rule"... Sam has learned alot this year and had a great time also. Her coach's Bo and Peanut have been such good leadership.
Sam has day four of Ball Camp... the twins will swim. Hope Ho can get part of the day off to take drivers renewal test and motorcycle test....busy time for him.

We will be out routing for the team to win... she had a wonderful time today at the baseball camp and was put on the third grade team... she is small but MIGHTY for sure. The twins and I went to the library and to the Y while Sam had camp and we have plans to swim again this afternoon.

Monday afternoon musings!
6-16-08
Happy B'day Kit.... "BatMan and Robin to all those who remember"...
Well, the afternoon went better... always does after the Bear gets her nap! LOL
Just a reminder Beb.... cars run on petrol...lolol again. A fuse and gas will get a Jeep running smoothly (or so I hear).
We all went swimming again after noon so Sammy could get some water time in.
Then on to All-Star Game where Sam won the game ball... (her team lost.. but who cares?) ...watch out major leagues... here come a little bear to play on your team one day.
Am going to add some of our animal pics from yesterday... would recommend HollyWild Park to any animal lovers... a very clean, well organized and run facility.
Tim and family are in Fl. at Disney...hope to have some pictures to share with you soon.

Father's Day...Ho Ho Day
6-16-08
We had a great Ho Ho Day. Had a good lunch at home and then went to HollyWild Park in Inman, SC. We got to follow the bus around the drive-thu park...we have some great pics that we will share soon...from the buffalo to the emu to the Scottish Highland Cattle and Texas Longhorns we fed quite a bit of Matzo Bread to all.
Ho and Ann and the girls walked around the animal park. We then went to Red Robin and ate supper.
A very, very fun day.
Today started off like Friday the 13th should have been... Sam went to baseball camp at TC, we took VW to Mt. View for headlight repair and Ann's Jeep broke down on her way back to work...it was hobbled into Mt. View at last...Jamie must have seen us coming. Ho Ho was such a BIG help... broken down on 25 with two cars and their flashers must have been a sight!
The twins and I went to Y to swim and then to pick up Sam from Baseball Camp. The rest of the day has to be a little calmer (please!)

Proud Momma, and pictures from Clay Class...think the twins enjoyed the week.
Ho and I went to Lummus show and to Low Rider car show and then to Hville to see another car show that never materalized... we did have a great time waiting for it to start and it was not a total wash as we did see ELVIS.... he is alive and living in a soda shop in Hville..
Have plans for Grand-father Day which will remain a secret until tomorrow.... pray for the rain to stop!

This is Jenna, this week Tori and I had pottery camp .At pottery camp we had two teachers, one was called Kat and the other teacher Sun. I made a creation called trash .It was only a big sphere with other smaller things I made.On wed. both of the teachers were here. They surprised us by letting us the wheel! On the last day we made a whisle. We started by making two pinch pots and put them together. Then we made an animal head ,four animal feet ,and a big fat tail.I made a cow,Tori made a cat and a dog. This the strangest thing at camp, there was a boy named Isabell. That was my week at pottery camp.
This is Tori, the past week Jenna and I went to AB Tech for our pottery classes. We met many friends and the two teachers named Kat and Sun. Monday and Tuesday: we came in and the class and everyone was making anything we wanted. Wednesday: since both teachers were there,we did the wheel. I didn't know what I was making but it looked cool!
Thursday: we started our whisles (which were animals) I made two, a cat a dog. Today: We finshed our whisles.Plus we glazed everything from Monday to Wednesday. None of mine broke,Yay.That is what we have done this week
Love Tori

Get The Reading Bug and Clay Classes
6-12-08 Thursday
Twins to pottery and Sam and I to Reading Kickoff held at The Smith McDowell House grounds. A very good story telling/musician and beekeeper kept us all entertained. We bought one of his baskets and a couple of jars of his honey for our honey lovers Sam and Ho.
The twins had a fun time at Pottery class. Tomorrow is their last day. They took some pictures that we will share.
Picked up lunch at Chic-Fil-A and rested. Plan to go to the Y to swim this afternoon if the storms hold off.
A little cooler today... since when do we think 80s in NC is cool?

Happy Birthday Uncle Andy! Think you are 45 years old/young today. Talked to Jan this morning also.
Took twins to pottery class this morning. Sam and I went shopping. Bought some new crocs for girls... theirs were pretty much worn out...beautiful sunny day.
Just "hanging out" this afternoon as Ann is taking girls to Habitat for tea for their birdhouse donations. No time to swim at the Y today so girls got in hot tub.

Rainy afternoon
6-10-08
We tried to go swimming today but a thunderstorm had other ideas. Sam passed her swimming test with flying colors... she is proud of that for sure. All swimmers pulled from the pool due to thunder and lightening. This storm has caused us a change in plans for sure. Hard to complain about rain storms tho due to what the mid of the country has been suffering from. All our hay except for bottom pasture is cut and up so we are fine!

The twins started their pottery classes yesterday at AB Tech.. they said that they really enjoyed it and that the class was full of fun kids..that always helps. Sam and I picked them up and saw a temp. on the car of 113.... did we move or is this still NC?
We all went to the Y to swim in the afternoon. That water sure felt wonderful on the hot hot day.
Today Sam and I played taxi again. We went to a fruit stand and bought some delicious local blueberries... the summer is a wonderful time for us veggie and fruit lovers. We have already had a blueberry snack. YUM!
Today is Uncle Joe's birthday...Happy Bday to you.
June is a month filled with family birthdays.

5th Grade Graduation Day
June 5, 2008
Up and at em' early this morning to attend the twins 5th grade graduation program... Cyndy made it easy for me to park and to get into the gym... she always looks after us...
All those smiling, glad its the last day of school (for this year anyway) 5th graders filing into the gym was great to see. Next year on to the Valley Springs Middle School. (right on the same location as their great-grandaddy's Johnston's Valley Springs High School. He is smiling down on them for sure.... they are well prepared for middle school..thanks to the excellent teachers at ACES...we appreciate them all especially Ms. Hart and Ms. Ramsey this year...
Jenna was playing two instruments and Tori was in the Chorus. Both girls won awards. Tori was awarded the ACES Safety Patrol award from Mr. Williams. Jenna was awarded the Music Award, the AB Honor Roll and The Presidential Education Award..the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award.
The program went very well and we were so very proud of them both. There was a silly ole' Bear wearing purple 2008 glasses...wonder who that could have been?
We are so happy to have them here in Averys Creek with us. Ann works so hard to keep all three involved in school, sports and church activities.
Ho Ho took us all out to lunch to celebrate.
We will get Sam off the bus .. we have a banner to say Thanks to Ms. Massey.. then Sam on to ball game, Jenna to soccer game and Tori on to Girls on The Run party.

Two Days and Counting
June 4, 2008
The girls gave their cards and their gift cards to their teachers and school helpers. Mrs.Massey called.."said we could not do that"..well, NOW she understands that we can and did...lol... she has been such a help to our girls at ACES... hope they will have the same great guidance next year in 6th grade.
They are so excited about the end of the year. Ann and I go to the Awards Program tomorrow morning.
Looking forward to it for sure.
Jan called with ideas for their supply lists for next year... we will welcome all the help we can get especially from their wonderful Aunt and a middle school year herself.
Picked lettuce from the garden and Grangier tomatoe for BLTs for supper. Chef Ho cooked of course.
Hope we can keep the girls busy and happy for the next two months.
Hot in the 90s weather for today. Dusty came to fluff the hay.

Hope we can keep the girls busy and happy for the next two months.
Hot in the 90s weather for today. Dusty came to fluff the hay.

In The Beginning (Or has that already been used?)
June 3, 2008
Want to start this blog for the summer of 2008 today. The girls have three more days of school...Yeah...
Think it would be fun to chronicle the summers events...days..fun times..not so fun times..and all inbetween.
Tori and Jenna are leaving Elementary School and Sam will be entering third grade next year....they will have a chance to be a part of this blog also.. this should be interesting for sure...
We will try to make an entry every day telling a little of each days activities.
We have made our cards for teachers and our great bus driver and got their gift cards... this is just a small way to say thanks for all the help they have been to the girls and to Ann and I this year....hard to believe the twins will be in 6th grade..
Beautiful sunny day today.
Donnie started cutting hay today...says it will be a thin cut. Hope the rain holds off for a few days.
